While in Spain, you have the option to prepare your own meals while on holiday, hire a chef or eat at restaurants. All the options are viable and when well prepared, meals will be nothing but great. If you settle for restaurants, be very keen so as to make sure that the food that you are eating is actually high quality and also that the food is very fresh.

When you settle for sea food, it is good to know that they may not be the best quality unless you are at close proximity with the beach areas. This will mean that the food are freshly fished and thus will be greatly enjoyed. When you are in the inland destinations, you may be served with sea food that have been refrigerated or frozen to try and keep them fresh. When you are at coastal regions, the sea food should stand as your first option as they are very fresh and will be greatly enjoyed. The north Atlantic area is renowned for having some of the best sea food in the region.

For high quality sea food, Galicia is one of the very best producers. When a hotel bears names such as Gallego, it means that they are mainly specializing in sea food. A regional specialty from Galicia is a commendable choice for those who feel adventurous. Some may find the food quite intimidating. If you do not want to try the adventurous dishes, settle for the normal ones.

Apart from sea food, there are many kinds of meats that one can enjoy while in the country. The meats are high quality as they are from free range animals. When eating at restaurants, you can very confidently order beef steaks. Most of these are from cows that are free range especially in the mountain regions.

Another meat type is pork. It is very coveted especially the ones called Secreto Iberico and Presa Iberico. This is something that you should order immediately if you happen to spot in restaurant menu as they are simply great.

Something that you might miss at restaurants in Spain are soups as they may be quite limited. You may however be able to get gazpacho at most restaurants but all others may be quite limited.

When you eat at restaurants, you may be served water without having to expressly ask for it. This may also be charged in your bill. If you do not want water, you may make it known to the person waiting on you or ask for tap water.
